Greetings in Christ! The Manual of Operations Task Force (MOO) has been working over the last number of months, in consultation with the General Presbyter, Stated Clerk, and General Council, to review current Standing Rules, the new Form of Government in the Book of Order, and to draft this proposed Manual of Administrative Operations and Bylaws for Transylvania Presbytery.
To all members and congregations within the bounds of the Presbytery of Transylvania:
Greetings in Christ! The Manual of Operations Task Force (MOO) has been working over the last number of months, in consultation with the General Presbyter, Stated Clerk, and General Council, to review current Standing Rules, the new Form of Government in the Book of Order, and to draft this proposed Manual of Administrative Operations and Bylaws for Transylvania Presbytery.
Please take time to review the attached draft, along with a proposed new appendix on Forms of Pastoral Leadership. Also attached are rationales for the proposed MOO and a brief glossary of terms. All current policies and appendices to the Standing Rules will need to be revised and appended to the MOO if approved.
We will present the proposed MOO at the next Stated Presbytery meeting on Tuesday, September 11th in Whitesburg. If the body is prepared to vote on the proposal at that time, we will do so.
To facilitate discussion prior to the meeting, we are sending out this draft now. Members of the MOO Task Force will host two webinar discussions: Wednesday, August 8th at 7pm, and Thursday, August 9th at 10am. To participate, contact Stephanie Sorge Wing at sorgewing@gmail.com or 859-612-2317 for instructions on joining the webinar. Participants can join by computer or by telephone. Because of technological limitations, each webinar is limited to the first 20 to sign up. Note that one participant could include a group of people using a computer with speakers or speakerphone. If we exceed capacity for the two webinars, we will schedule additional webinars. In addition, if there is sufficient interest for a “Transy Talk” within a region, we will respond to invitations to come and facilitate those in person, as well.
We look forward to continuing the conversation as we move into new ways of being church and Presbytery together.
Peace in Christ,
The Manual of Operations Task Force:
